  • MAYORAL CANDIDATE FELIPE MERINO ENDORSES RYAN DVORAK FOR MAYOR

April 26, 2011 – Felipe Merino, a candidate on the Democratic Primary ballot for Mayor of South Bend, publicly announced his endorsement of Ryan Dvorak for Mayor today.

“Like Ryan, I am an attorney who works with local businesses every day.  In fact, my decision to run for mayor stems from representing these hard-working entrepreneurs, and knowing the struggles they face,” said Merino.  “I know Ryan Dvorak shares this same commitment to helping our local employers – and he knows how to do it from his own first-hand experience.”

Merino, a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Notre Dame School of Law, unofficially ended his own candidacy, but not until the deadline to remove his name from the ballot had passed.  Therefore, his name will appear on the Democratic Primary ballot alongside Dvorak and the three other candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for Mayor.

“South Bend needs a proven leader like Ryan Dvorak,” continued Merino.  “He has the new ideas we need to turn things around, and the track record of success to back it up.”

Dvorak responded to Merino’s endorsement by saying: “I am honored to have Mr. Merino’s support.  His commitment to our community and his hard work for local business exemplifies what is best about South Bend.  I look forward to working with him, and everyone else in the city, to begin the transformation we need.”

“I voted for Ryan Dvorak today during early vote at the County City Building, and I encourage everyone else in South Bend to do the same,” said Merino.
