As Mayor, Ryan will reorganize our economic development efforts, help our existing businesses grow, and encourage entrepreneurial efforts to create good-paying jobs here at home.
He will consolidate the overlapping functions of over a half dozen different organizations working on economic development issues, and focus our efforts to grow the economy under a unified structure that makes sense. This new effort will result in a more cost effective, more accountable, and – most importantly – more effective method of increasing employment, investment, and income levels across the city.
Ryan will bring a new emphasis on the development of our existing city businesses – because every city rises and falls on the strength of its local and homegrown companies. Ryan will also work to attract top employers to locate their operations in South Bend because bringing new investment and good-paying jobs to our community will always be important.
By working with local businesses – small and large – Ryan will work to make important economic development incentives accessible to employers to help them put people back to work. A new Business Assistance Program will help employers take advantage of existing tax incentives, training programs, and financing opportunities to grow their businesses and their workforce.
